Cafe World Angel Fruit Cake and Devil Eggs cater to the sweet and spicy

    cafe world spicy devil eggs
In conjunction with Cafe World's new Good vs Evil decor, two new recipes have been unveiled.

The sweet Angel Fruit Cake and Spicy Devil Eggs follow the good vs evil, heaven vs hell pattern. However, while Angel Fruit Cake is certainly good, I'm not sure we can really call Spicy Devil Eggs evil. A batch of homemade deviled eggs I once had down in North Carolina would certainly fall in line with the forces of good. Regardless, we're always pleased to see new recipes; Angel Fruit Cake and Spicy Devil Eggs are two delightful treats.

The two new recipes can be found in the Cookbook:

Angel Fruit Cake
Level Requirement: 20
Cost: 900 Coins
Preparation Time: 8 Hours
Servings: 650
Provides: 6 Coins per customer, 3,900 Coins total

Spicy Devil Eggs
Level Requirement: 20
Cost: 400 Coins
Preparation Time: 18 Hours
Servings: 285
Provides: 5 Coins per customer, 1,425 Coins total

Head over to Cafe World to check out the good vs evil theme and the new recipes: Angel Fruit Cake and Spicy Devil Eggs.

Wild Ones Snacks offer longer lasting perks

wild ones snacks
Wild Ones has extended the amount of time that snack effects last. As pictured above, Apples, Coconuts, Watermelons and Super Salads all last nine turns as opposed to the usual three turns. The best part is, all the snacks cost the same amount as they originally did despite the significant increase in damage dealing power.

The update comes alongside the release of over forty new Wild Ones weapons. As discussed in the article, those who are willing to buy weapons get a huge advantage. Perhaps the extended effects of Wild Ones snacks were intended to help balance out the new arsenal of powerful cash-bought weapons.

Head to Wild Ones yourself to start placing delivery orders for the new snacks. Remember each takes a specific amount of time to arrive, and if you don't pick it up in time, it will rot. Don't look over these powerups, they're relatively cheap, can be bought for coins, offer a hefty damage boost and last nine long turns. To combat the new weapons on the battlefield, you're going to need a few of these healthy snacks.

PetVille Tahiki Magic Door: Everything you need to know

For weeks, we've been seeing a PetVille loading screen that showed an attic space with a locked door and a sign that says 'Tahiki' sitting above it. Now, the attic is officially unlocked, and you'll have the chance to find out what's behind that locked door, but getting past all 10 of those locks will require a little help from your generous friends.

petville attic magic door to tahiki inside

The door has 10 different colored locks that require keys with the corresponding colors to unlock. You'll find one key lying in the attic and the rest, you can get from friends or -- if you don't want to wait -- buy using Pet Cash. One key costs 5 Pet Cash or you can buy them all for 45 Pet Cash (or less if you've already unlocked a few locks).

To send keys or ask friends for keys, find the 'Come Visit Tahiki' sign in the attic and click the appropriate button.

You can also send friends keys via the Free Gifts; though you'll only have access to three of the five colored keys needed to get to Tahiki.

What happens when you finally get to Tahiki? We're not going to tell; you'll just have to find out on your own.

Did you make to Tahiki yet? Was it worth the effort?

wild ones new weapons anvilDespite the incredible breadth of this update, the release continues to upset many fans. After tampering with the original formula, Wild Ones seems to be continually struggling to re-balance the game elements and please their fans. To give them credit, Wild Ones does probably have one of the most hypocritical fan bases of all time. It seems whatever the game does in an attempt to please them they will find something new to complain about.

This time, the complaining revolves around the awesome new weapons themselves. It seems that the gameplay now gives a huge advantage to those with the better, more powerful weapons. In addition, many of the weapons cost real cash. What this boils down to is the players who are willing to spend actual money (to buy better weapons) are often the winners by default.

Is this a fair system? Yes. Is it fun for everyone? Not so much.
Regardless, head over to Wild Ones to gaze at all the insane weapons in the store. Our favorite? The cow. Check it out.

Mafia Wars Las Vegas Loot Event preps us for a Sin City takeover

UPDATED (6/25): List of items added and some images.

Mafia Wars Las Vegas expansion is still coming soon, but it looks like the game's going to prep everyone for a big Sin City takeover. The just-launched Las Vegas Loot Event works like this: Seven new loot items will drop when performing jobs or winning fights, and once they've all been collected, you'll be rewarded with the Jackpot -- a gun with 30 Attack and 54 Defense. The event will send in five days, though -- have to admit -- I'm not in any hurry to finish just to get a gun with such middling stats. Then again, if finishing this is a requirement to get into Viva Las Vegas, guess it won't hurt to do my due diligence.

UPDATE (6/29) I made a few corrections to the list of items, added how to get them and a few other tidbits.

The items are as follows: (Thanks, Lube and LBryant!)

Big Blind (Gun, Fighting loot)
52 Attack 25 Defense

Suit of Suits (Jacket, Job loot)
46 Attack 24 Defense

Viva Las Vegas (Guitar, Job loot)
27 Attack 50 Defense

Casino Guard (Bodyguard, Fighting loot)
48 Attack 28 Defense

High Roller (Truck, Job loot)
46 Attack 23 Defense

Stage Show Tiger (Animal, Fighting loot)
28 Attack 50 Defense

Royal Flush (Gun, Job loot)
48 Attack, 25 Defense

Find all of these 7 items and you'll receive:

Jackpot
30 Attack 54 Defense

So far, most of these items have dropped while doing jobs in Cuba and New York. The loot was easy to come by at first, but it has grown more difficult over the past few days. I've now taken to finding the rest by fighting and doing the Mugging job (which only require 2 Energy) in New York.

Pet Society: Cool Pics June 25

We wish we could get away to a tropical paradise like Mina's Pet Society pet! The daytime and sunset scenes look like they could be from Tahiti, or perhaps Cape Town, SA, site of the FIFA World Cup. These vacation scenes are a snap to make. Just take a beach wallpaper (1000 coins at the DIY Shop) and a beach floor (300 coins) and voilà, you'll have an instant beach, complete with palm trees, a small white hut and palm trees and islands in the horizon. (The larger Tiki huts and bars are separate.)

Notice that the Tiki Statue jumps and dances. To get your own statue, head to the Garden store, where they cost 1500 coins.

This amazing image comes from Tracy, whose pet looks like she went to Sea World. These are special charity items, from which Playfish donates 10 percent of the proceeds to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Finally, Dani C. writes in to say that she thought it was sweet when the Romantic Ice Sculpture sent to her by her husband turned out to be a pair of love swans. But then she got a second surprise when she turned down the lights and saw them glow. This is "A+ work from the Playfish artists," she says.

Chocolatier: Sweet Society gets real with actual chocolates at Casual Connect

PlayFirst Chocolates
To promote Chocolatier: Sweet Society, a Facebook game where players can run their own chocolate shop and factory, PlayFirst gave out real free chocolates at the Casual Connect conference in Seattle last week. All photos come from PlayFirst's official blog.

As far as Facebook game promotions go, it's not as noteworthy as FarmVille's Californian mall petting zoo, it's certainly a sweet touch. PlayFirst says they've lots of chocolates leftover from that week. Maybe they can send some out to their budding fanbase... nudge, nudge, wink, wink? Cause I'd love some! :)

FarmVille: New HUD makes it easier to gift active farmers

In tonight's release, FarmVille has rolled out a new HUD (heads up display) icon on the left-hand side of the screen that helps you keep track of which friends have played recently. If you click on the icon, you will then get a pop-up that will let you send a gift to friends who've been active on their farms. Might not seem like a big deal at first, but it's actually a big improvement if you want to send gifts to neighbors who are most active in the game. Happy gifting, farmers!

Starting this Thursday with the new Wurst and Sauerkraut Stall, Oktoberfest in Restaurant City is sure to please the Deutsch in all of us.

This cheery, ambidextrous bier maiden will be ready for work this Sunday and Monday. Also, is that the Hoff in there complete with Knight Rider gear? With easier ways to get Playfish cash and now this, it looks like your October just got a whole lot wurst (sorry, couldn't help it).

PetVille Crystal Springs: Nessie rises from the deep to join your pets

PetVille Nessie
As part of the new Crystal Springs Theme in PetVille, Zynga has added another mythical beast from lore and legend into the game: Nessie. The Loch Ness Monster's more endearing name, Nessie will swim back and forth in your lake with majestic grace only to disappear once she thinks someone has noticed her (typical monster).

Unfortunately, this sea dragon furniture item costs a whopping 98 Pet Cash, or about $7 USD, and is only available for another five days. While that sounds like a lot of money, this is technically less expensive than the Captive Cornelian Dragon and his family. If you're willing to put up the dough, head over to Crystal Springs to get your Nessie before it's gone.

Happy Pets welcomes back Random Dogs, Cats and Horses on the cheap

In a move that we can't quite understand, CrowdStar has brought back some Random Pets to Happy Pets due to "popular demand" (doubtful) in extremely limited quantities. In the store right now you can find Random Cats, Dogs and Horses that are slightly cheaper, but only a few hundred are left of each.

The Random Cat, which needs to be fed every eight hours and sells for 4500 coins after three days, is going for 120 Facebook Credits ($12 USD). For 80 Facebook Credits, or $8 USD, you can have your very own Random Dog, but remember to feed it every 12 hours if you want to sell it in four days for 2940 coins. A Random Horse will cost you a weird 102 Facebook Credits, which amounts to $10.20, and needs food every 16 hours if it's to be sold in seven days for 3600 coins.

When looking at these prices compared to how much they used to be, it's only about 20 percent off the original price. While this is a better time than any to get these previously canceled Random Pets, think twice before you make the investment.

Social City welcomes Donald Duck and Pluto, but does Disney have bigger plans?

Now that you can get Donald Duck and Pluto statues through gifting in addition to the tons of Disney items that have been added recently, your Social City Magic Kingdom is essentially complete. Over the past few days, the effects of Disney's $563 million buyout for Playdom have had a visible effect on Social City.

With all of these new Disney items, it's surprising that the company hasn't asked Playdom to create a Disney World social game based off the technology behind Social City (as if it hasn't been done), or have they? This is purely speculation, but it is more than likely for Disney to push for something like this if only to cut out the middle man; in this case, Social City. Perhaps all of these items inspired by the Magic Kingdom are meant for Old Big Ears to test the waters for a full-blown game featuring the world's most popular theme park.

While some might consider this idea a stretch, it's obvious that Disney's presence in Playdom's games isn't going anywhere. If Disney's involvement in the property management genre of social games ends here, then they're missing out on a golden opportunity.

FarmVille's Farmers Insurance Blimp takes a permanent break on your farm

It turns out that digital farmers everywhere loved the Farmers Insurance Airship so dearly (you mean the wither protection, right?) that FarmVille-creator Zynga and Farmers Insurance have decided to keep the zeppelin on your farmstead forever. Unfortunately, its extremely useful wither protection effect will fizzle out come Oct. 28. We're fairly certain that you loved the blimp's effect rather than the 246-foot-long aircraft itself.

However, Farmers Insurance hasn't ruled out bringing the effect back later on, but who knows when that will be. Well, good things don't last forever, especially things that are game-breakingly good. At least you can keep the thing around in storage until the company decides to power their famous blimp back on. Honestly, we really doubt many people will keep it floating above their farmland. Come on, the thing's huge!

At least players can still enter the Farmers Insurance contest to win a ride on the real zeppelin, which pretty much trumps the digital one in every way--digital crop protection included.

Island Paradise: Celebrate Halloween in tropical island style

Island Paradise Halloween
Island Paradise is one of the original island-themed games, and Meteor Games is not going to let Halloween pass them by without decking out the game for the holiday. Players who enjoy Island Paradise will be happy to see a slew of fun celebrations going on, starting with a new Trick or Treat game. If you log in right now, you'll be granted a Jack-O-Lantern in your gift box that you can place anywhere on your island. If you click it, you'll see the screen above that tells you how many of each treat you have collected. Treats are collected by clicking on your friend's Halloween pumpkins in their islands. This is all fine and dandy, unless your friends no longer play Island Paradise. If that's the case, you'll have a hard time collecting treats.

Another neat addition is the new scary Haunted Barn. If you upgrade your barn to the maximum size, it will turn into a Haunted Barn which looks nice and creepy for the holiday. Buying a barn costs only 500 coins, but you'll have to ask friends for materials several times in order to upgrade the barn to the maximum size.
Of course, Halloween in a Facebook game wouldn't be complete without tons of decorations. The Island Paradise store currently has many different decorations to celebrate the spooky holiday, including the following new items:

Skeletal Chicken
Black Cat
Cursed Apple Tree
Blood Orange Tree
Jack-O-Lantern
Gothic Fence
Gothic Post
Owl Tree
Flying Witch Tree

Since Island Paradise is really a farming game with an island theme, there are also Halloween crops that you can plant. The pumpkin crop is pretty self explanatory, and will let you grow your own pumpkin patch. More interestingly, the Zombie Attack crop allows you to plant brains, which end up spawning zombies after 12 hours that give you out brains for treats. This is a pretty neat concept that we haven't seen yet, and we like it!

It Girl releases cars to help you dominate showdowns

It Girl Cars
Have you been having problems dominating the other girls in It Girl? Need to boost your confidence so that you can take part in more showdowns and earn coins and experience faster? Now, you can do just that with the new cars that were released today. If you have made it to Los Angeles (which requires you to be level 22) you can now access six different cars. These cars will give you a Showdown Bonus that is added to your total hotness score, and should be used when you are doing a showdown with a girl who is close in hotness with you. They won't guarantee that you win the fight though, and if your opponent has a car you will have to compare points with them to ensure a win.

Cars can be purchased by clicking "My Status" at the bottom of your screen. You can have more than one car; they are stored in your garage to use in showdowns. Cars have two different values on them - a Fuel Economy and a Showdown Bonus. The Fuel Economy controls how long it takes for your gas to run out - the higher the number the longer it will take. Gas is depleted when you go to parties (because you drive your car there), but doesn't deplete for doing showdowns themselves. Refueling your car costs cash which is earned through paying the game and doesn't require paying real money.

It Girl Cars
There are six different cars available right now. You do need to raise your level to unlock higher cars, and not all cars will be cash (some will require Facebook Credits). Right now, the choices are a Starter Sedan, a Teeny Speedster, Luxury Cruiser, Convertible, Sportscar, and Dream Car. The lowest level cash car is 8000 cash, and the cheapest Facebook Credits car is 122 credits. Considering they give you a bonus to all showdowns, they're a pretty good investment

Publisher's Clearing House Facebook game promises real-life rewards

Publisher's Clearing House -- that omnipresent direct marketing company that occasionally shows up at people's houses with oversized checks -- has launched a new game on Facebook called Bingo Charms.

The game, created in partnership with NYC-based developer Arkadium, is a far cry from the bingo played in retirement homes and church basements. Instead of the traditional number calling, numbers are unveiled by clicking fruit on a virtual tree that sits at the top of the game screen. Card-holders can increase their luck by purchasing special power-ups (or 'charms' as they're called in the game) using the two in-game currencies -- Ladybugs and Leprechaun Gold. As you progress through the game, you'll unlock different types of cards and more power-ups.

bringo charms shop

Since this is a social game, Bingo Charms has a few social components built in -- though it feels a little limited at the moment. You can visit friends who also play the game and pick up numbers that can be used when needed in your bingo games. There's a gifting area in the game that's marked as 'coming soon,' and that's about as social as it gets.

bingo charms win money

Of course, the genius of Bingo Charms has very little to do with the game mechanics. This game's hook is you can win real-world prizes simply by playing. Every day. It makes sense -- what kind of Publisher's Clearing House-branded game wouldn't give away prizes? Once a day, you'll have the chance to win in-game currency or up to $500. Winners are listed in the game, and it looks like most of them have been walking away with $5 or $10 Amazon gift codes. Not too shabby for a game usually favored by the gray-haired set. Maybe there's something to this whole 'bingo' thing after all...

Ravenwood Fair scares visitors even more with Halloween frights

Ravenwood Fair hasn't been out for a week yet, and already it's one of the top growing Facebook games. This slightly-creepy themed game with a terrifying forest already has the scary thing going for it, so Halloween is a perfect fit for the game. Today, several new Halloween items have reached the Ye Olde Shoppe in Ravenwood Fair, and we have everything you need to know about the new items.

First, the most important new item is the Pumpkin Screamer game. Games are the most important part of Ravenwood Fair, because they increase your fun and bring visitors to your fair. The Pumpkin Screamer game costs 89 Facebook Credits, but is the best game yet. It gives you 250 uses. a 12 coin profit, and a whopping +900 fun. It's also neat, because it's like a pumpkin on a stick and it will only be around for Halloween.

Next, the decorations! There are several new decorations that will help transform your fair until a spooky one. The Jack-O-Lantern will cost you 19 Facebook Credits, and the Mausoleum will cost you 29, but you can get a Tombstone for only 1100 coins (or receive it from friends as a gift. That's not too bad. There are also a few buildings such as the Chocolate Skull Cart, the Great Pumpkin House, and the Haunted House. The Chocolate Skull Cart requires 2 Sugar Skulls, 2 Wax Candles, 2 Candy Corn and 2 Pumpkins, or 7 Facebook Credits to complete.
There are also a few Halloween quests in the game, however we're not sure exactly how many as we're still making our way through them. The first quests are "Think of the Kids!" which wants you to collect 20 Candy Corns from friends, and "Nightmare on Pine Street" that wants you to build 4 Thunderboxes right next to each other to look like Elm Street from the Freddy movies. If you know of other quests, feel free to leave them in the comments. :)

Zynga cuts the ribbon on FarmVille follow-up CityVille

Zynga is officially cutting the ribbon on a FarmVille follow-up called CityVille (which we first spotted way back in August.) Now that you've been able to reap and sew your oats on the farm, you can pack up your overalls and try your hand at managing your very own virtual city.

CityVille, which is still a few weeks out from launch, seems like it will be fairly similar to fellow Facebook city building games Social City and My Town, but with a handful of game elements that might make it stand out from the pack (not to mention a few borrowed elements from Zynga's hit games FarmVille and FrontierVille)

The game puts you in the role of mayor and you're tasked with building a city from the ground up -- literally. Start by clearing land, then add roads roads and restaurants, stores and various city services to keep your growing population happy. Naturally, you will do this buy earning coins in game and buying items in an in-game marketplace. A currency called City Cash can be purchased with real-life cash and then used for boosts and special items.

Even though you've escaped from the farm to the city, there will still be some required planting and harvesting of crops to keep your restaurants stocked (and your virtual citizens' stomachs from rumbling). You'll also be able to send ships to exotic lands (e.g. Rome, London and Shanghai) to import more goods.

From the brief video clip taken from CityVille (see below), it also looks like this game will -- much like FrontierVille -- have a series of missions that will help guide you through the game. Also like FrontierVille, every time you perform an action, bonuses pop out that you'll have to click to collect.

Social interaction in the game will generally revolve around trading goods with neighbors and running businesses in each others' cities (for a share of the profits, of course) -- the more businesses you have operating, the bigger and more awesome your city will be.

Of course, the question still remains -- will CityVille be different enough to stand apart from the other city games that have blazed a trail on Facebook before it? Stay tuned to CityVille.com, and see for yourself in the next few weeks.

Restaurant City goes ancient with Aztec Week items - now available in the store!

Ever wanted to travel back into the 1300's and visit the Aztecs? Well, now you can (or, you can at least pretend that you are), by taking part in Restaurant City's new Aztec Week of items.

Playfish has launched the full selection of items in-game this evening, and we have the round-down on the available items, that can be found after the break.

This week's theme interestingly contains items inspired by both the Aztecs and the Mayans. You can pick up both Aztec and Mayan varieties of seating (either traditional and modern, but with traditional patterns, or the actual rocky, ancient items), as well as both a Mayan or Aztec table. A lovely and intricate Aztec calendar item can be added to your restaurant's wall for 8000 coins, and you can 4 Playfish Cash on an even more elaborate (and golden) wall Sundial.

You can add Shaman waiter figures and a Chieftain Maitre-D figure to your restaurant for Playfish Cash, and you can purchase both golden, or simply stone divider pieces for coins. There are lots of sculptural items to choose from, both golden and regular, along with three more figures, each representing a different member of a Pan Pipe band.

For the flooring and wallpaper options, you have three floor tiles to choose from (brown, red, and gold/orange), each one with an ancient symbol in the center, while the trio of new wallpaper options is just as bright and complex, with two pieces going for Playfish Cash and the third being a horizontal striped pattern that goes for 2000 coins.

Finally, there are some bathroom and outdoor items available in this theme, in the form of an Aztec Toilet and Sink, along with four different types of Jungle Plants, that can be placed both indoors to add more of a feeling of nature to your restaurant's dining room, or outside in your garden.

For a full look at all of the newly available items, either head into your game's store, where you'll find these new items available to purchase, or head over to the Restaurant City Blog.

FarmVille Sneak Peek: Harvest Store, Autumn Fountain, Cornucopia Home, Squash House & More

This week has been absolutely huge in the world of leaked FarmVille images, as we've come across a whole slew of Thanksgiving themed items that may or may not be coming to FarmVIlle in the near future. This set of items is solely centered around fall / Thanksgiving, so if this items are going to be released, we'd guess it will be soon.

You can check out the image of these unreleased items above. Here are what we think they'll be called, starting from left to right: Harvest Store, Autumn Fountain, Cornucopia Home, Squash House, Orange Pumpkin, Fall Bridge, Autumn Yellow Pumpkin, Autumn Red Pumpkin, Autumn Mixed Pumpkin, Turkey Hot Air Balloon.

As usual, keep in mind that there's no guarantee that any of these items will actually come out in the game, but as there is still a bit of time left before Thanksgiving itself is here, we wouldn't put it past Zynga to release one or all of these items into the game's store.

FarmVille Sneak Peek: Winter Workshop Christmas Building

As we all might have expected, if images currently circling the internet are anything to go by, it looks as though Zynga will have a new constructable building in FarmVille for us this Christmas holiday season.

The building is being called a Winter Workshop, and there are currently eight unreleased images associated with the building, showing the eight different stages of the building's "construction." With these stages, however, comes a bit of a question.

Will the Winter Workshop, if released, turn out to be just another building that must be build with Wooden Boards, Nails, and Bricks, that serves as a decoration on our land? Or, will the Winter Workshop actually turn out to be this year's Christmas "basket" item, like the Christmas Tree was in 2009? With that possibility, these "stages" could then represent how full your Workshop is with items - Santa's presents? Toys? Elf hats and stockings?

The possibilities are endless, and while neither of these outcomes has been confirmed, it is always nice to speculate as to what will be in store for us come December.

Zoo World Cornucopia: Everything you need to know

Zoo World Cornucopia
Zoo World has already released a lot of festive decor for Thanksgiving, but now the game has given players the opportunity to build their own cornucopia for the holiday. When you log into Zoo World, you'll be granted the option to start building your cornucopia. You can also just go directly to the store and buy the Cornucopia Frame for 1,000 coins. Once you place it anywhere on your zoo, you can click on it to tell how many of each piece you need to collect in order to complete it.

To complete the Cornucopia, you need 10 each of Autumn Leaves, Baskets, Grapes, Pears, and Pumpkins. You can ask your friends by posting a newsfeed to your Facebook wall, or you can buy each individual item for 1 Wildlife Point. This means that it will cost you 1,000 coins and 50 Wildlife Points to get the cornucopia without bothering any of your friends. The finished Cornucopia looks like this:

There are 22 days remaining before you will no longer be able to build your cornucopia, so log in today and start collecting pieces!
